What is AgelessFit365 about?
My journey to age well and share what I learn along the way.
At around 50 I had a bit of a health scare, and made a decision to be conscious of my lifestyle and to get back in the gym. A couple of years later, I began to swim laps a couple of times a week and fell in love with the challenge. I never had a competitive swimming lesson but was determined to enter my State’s Senior Games and did so in 2016. I have been in and out of the pool over the years, but got back into lap swimming in 2024. I taught myself Breaststroke and Butterfly in order to participate in my first ever 100 IM at my state’s Senior Olympics to qualify for Nationals in 2025.
Along this same time period I was in and out the gym, pretty consistent overall; b ut, I have taken months off here and there. This past year, did not lift much pursuing my goal of getting better on my swim strokes and conditioning etc.
The impetus for this blog was my 63rd birthday. I realized I have been doing everything by “gut”. In other words, not very structured and no recording of data. The one exception was around 2022 I started to record my caloric intake as I wanted to lose a bit of body fat and see if I could get my abs back 🙂 Honestly that habit did not “take” after a few months of tracking calories and weight.
So, here we are. This idea for a blog to document on a regular basis my progress to build muscle and work on conditioning at the same time. In short I want to be in “better shape” a year from now then I am now. It is all about habits, thus the “365” in the name. Time to make some healthy daily habits stick.
The ultimate goal is also to interview and learn from others in different areas of fitness, both physical and mental. Aging is a fact of life. I made the decision to be proactive this year and see how “fit” I can actually become. Additionally, this space will review products I have used, and what works or doesn’t.
